What you should expect at the end of year car sales

The End of Year Car Sales, also known as the plate clearance sales, is one of the best times of year to buy your new car.

Dealers are eager to clear all current 2021 plated stock in order to make way for newer 2022 plated cars. They’re also incentivized by manufacturers to make way for newer models, therefore typically from November you’ll see extra discounts or promotions to encourage customers to buy a current year plated model.

In addition to this, dealers have yearly sales targets they must achieve – and are pressured from manufacturers to do so. Therefore, they are more flexible in terms of the deals they offer towards the end of the year.

Unless there has been an update to the particular model of car you’re looking at, then there is generally no physical difference between 2021 and 2022 built cars.

All new car buyers should be aware of this when walking into a dealership and use this as leverage when negotiating.

Though the car industry is faced with a global stock shortage, reports are showing that car production is set to resume to normal levels beginning in December for many brands. Finding a great deal at the end of the year is going to be harder, but not impossible.

For example, many dealerships are advertising end of year demonstrator sales, where their 2021 plated demonstrator vehicles are discounted.
