Semi-Conductor Relief For Nissan Buyers

There is an end in sight for the global semi-conductor shortage that has crippled the car manufacturing industry for the past 18 months.

Manufacturers are beginning to announce their plans to resume full production of vehicles with Nissan and Toyota among the first to do so.

Many automakers have been forced to reconsider how they produce their vehicles and where they source their parts from. Some brands have promised to not compromise on features or technology, however others including Nissan have started building their vehicles with less technology in an effort to meet demand.

The good news is that Japanese car giant Nissan has announced that vehicle production should return to normal by the middle of next year.

Nissan Australia Managing Director, Adam Paterson, has announced that “Nissan will be much stronger in calendar Q1 of next year”. Factoring in shipping times to Australia, we can expect normal showroom stock levels in the lead up to June 2022 (end of financial year).

This comes as a massive relief for Nissan buyers with more stock coming in during the first few months of next year. One of Nissans most popular models, the patrol, has been significantly impacted by the stopping and starting of assembly line production throughout 2020 and 2021. Customers have been quoted wait times from 6 to 12 months for their new Nissan Patrol Model.

With production returning to normal, these wait times are expected to be reduced. Paterson announced “visibility for Patrol supply is getting better, but it’s still volatile.”
